Long time Science fiction fan.  First SciFi convention LunaCon NYC 1967.  First World Con 1967 in NYC, where I met and became friends with both Isaac Asimov and Anne McCaffrey, and got  stuck in an elevator for 3 hours with Harlan Ellison. The next spring I was one of 15 people that walked the NYC subways and got 600,000 signatures on a petition to keep Star Trek TOS on the air a third year. I go to 3-5 Cons a year.  I have been to Comic Con San Diego once in 2002.  I have been at DragonCon as an Eternal Member every year since 1995 and was the founder of the Blood Drive that in recent years have obtained over 10,000 units each year(far eclipsing ComicConSD). Community activist who supports myself by being a retired vascular surgeon. I have participated in nine medical missions most recently two to haiti, and have three potential ones planned for the next twelve months.I was the chairman of the board of central iowa american diabetes association and state advocacy director having received a national award for my efforts. I am married and have three great kids . I am one of ten who conceived of and organized the first Match of Dimes Walk a thon in New York City in 1971 .   I am heavily involved in science fiction, magic (performing) and the skeptic community.
